Research Methodology

A research record begins with an actual task and the facts needed to answer it. We prioritize official manuals, manufacturer specifications and official OS or application support documentation. Search snippets and reseller copy are not sufficient evidence for a specific compatibility claim.

Research sequence

  1. Identify the exact model suffix, region and task.
  2. Locate the relevant official manual or support document.
  3. Read the feature-specific table and its footnotes.
  4. Record the source, scope and date checked.
  5. Separate the documented finding from our interpretation.
  6. Mark missing or conflicting facts as unknown and investigate before publication.

Shared documentation

A manufacturer can reuse a topic across several manuals. We follow the named model’s actual table of contents to the topic, rather than infer compatibility from a similar model’s URL. A document for a regional or subscription variant is not automatically evidence for another edition.

Test language

At launch, no physical printer testing was performed. Our calculators have software arithmetic tests; those do not measure real printer yields, output quality or reliability. Any future owner or lab observation will describe the exact equipment, supplies, paper, settings and date.

Cost assumptions

Prices and workloads must have a date and currency. Declared yields retain their test method and footnotes. Hypothetical examples are labeled. Results exclude any cost layers not explicitly included. See the cost-per-page method.

Source maintenance

A source check is a dated observation. Software support and product information can change. We prioritize rechecking a page when an official update, reader correction or changed platform exposes a material issue.
